Search for Nonprofit Heroes Ends March 15

HARTFORD, CT, Mar. 1, 2010 – The Connecticut Association of Nonprofits (CT Nonprofits) is on a state-wide hunt for heroes in the nonprofit world. The organization has teamed up with The Hartford Business Journal to recognize nonprofit organizations and the people who make them valuable to our community. Winners will be honored at the CT Business Expo on June 10 and in May 10, 2010 edition of the Hartford Business Journal. Nominations must be submitted no later than March 15.

What is a nonprofit hero? Someone whose work makes our community stronger. Awards will be given out for: Nonprofit Volunteer of the Year; Nonprofit Executive of the Year; Nonprofit Organization of the Year; Nonprofit Collaboration of the Year; Nonprofit Advocate of the Year; Nonprofit Grantor of the Year; Social Entrepreneur of the Year and Philanthropist of the Year.

“Connecticut’s nonprofit organizations are an economic driver, employing 12 percent of our citizens, granting over $500 million annually and controlling nearly $6 billion in assets,” say Ron Cretaro, Executive Director, CT Nonprofits. “The Hartford Business Journal’s awards honor the contributions these nonprofits make to the state’s economy and the impact they have on all of our lives. We urge all nonprofits throughout the state nominate their ‘heroes’ to these awards.”

The Nonprofit Heroes Award recipients must be associations, companies, or individuals operating or based in Connecticut.  Winners will be chosen through an independent judging process and not by popularity or quantity of nominations.

To nominate an individual in your organization or one you admire, go to www.hartfordbusiness.com by March 15.
