Seminar to Help Non-Profits Tell Their Story in a Recession

NEW HAVEN, CT, May 15, 2009 – Non-profit organizations that need to do more with less will learn how at a workshop on Wednesday, June 17.  Sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits, the workshop will feature information and hands-on exercises in a session called “Telling Your Story During a Recession.”  The workshop will run from 9:00 to noon at The Marlin Center, 85 Willow Street, New Haven.

Presented by veteran marketing consultant Andrea Obston, the goal of the session is to help participants look at ways to communicate their messages, raise funds, cement relationships with key donors and volunteers and keep their visibility high despite tough economic times.

“The idea is not to react like turtles,” says Obston, “Hiding in your shell and complaining about the recession’s effect on fundraising and recruiting is self-defeating.  Research shows that people continue to give to the organizations closes to their hearts.  That’s an opportunity to raise visibility to make sure your organization gets a piece of that pie.”

Obston is the president of Andrea Obston Marketing Communications, LLC  in Bloomfield, CT.  The firmhelps businessesgrow through a B2E (Business to Everyone) marketing communications strategy.  The firm’s expertise includes strategic marketing audits, brand development and marketing, public and media relations, media training, websites and Internet advertising.
