Senate Finance Committee Hearings on Nonprofit Accountability

NCNA's Public Policy and Advocacy page.

The Senate Committee on Finance is concerned about charitable oversight and is considering possible legislation to address governance and best practices in the sector.

To this end, Committee staff released a discussion draft and a finance press release as well that outlined proposed reforms and asked for comments on this draft. The Committee has also held two hearings to get feedback from the charitable community:

Roundtable on Charitable Governance (July 22, 2004)

Charity Oversight and Reform: Keeping Bad Things from Happening to Good Charities (June 22, 2004).
